Oxytocin<\/strong> (Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly; MW 1007 Da) is a nonapeptide synthesised in the hypothalamic PVN and SON and released both peripherally (posterior pituitary) and centrally (axonal projections to amygdala, NAc, hippocampus, brainstem).
