What Is Cerebrolysin?

Cerebrolysin (EVER Neuro Pharma) is a peptide preparation derived from purified porcine brain proteins, containing low molecular weight neuropeptides (<1 kDa) and amino acids. Approved in 50+ countries for Alzheimer's disease, ischemic stroke, and traumatic brain injury. Mimics the effects of endogenous neurotrophic factors.

Key Mechanisms

  • BDNF, NGF, GDNF mimicry — activates TrkB, TrkA and Ret receptor pathways — neurotrophic and neuroprotective
  • Anti-apoptotic — reduces Bcl-2/Bax ratio favourably; prevents caspase-3 activation
  • Neuroplasticity — promotes dendritic spine formation and synaptic strength
  • Neurogenesis — stimulates hippocampal neurogenesis in aged models
  • Neuroprotection — reduces glutamate excitotoxicity and oxidative damage post-ischemia
