Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is the biologically active C-terminal decapeptide of the KISS1 gene product, signalling through the GPR54 receptor (also called KISS1R). Its discovery reshaped reproductive endocrinology: loss-of-function mutations in GPR54 cause hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, establishing kisspeptin as the obligatory upstream gatekeeper of the entire reproductive axis.
